The Watermill Center invites members of the community to partake in the last Family Day of 2017! Join us for a fun-filled afternoon of creative workshops with Watermill Alum Matty Davis of BOOMERANG and composer Denise Mei Yan Hofmann. Session One | 1:00 – 2:30pm Movement Workshop with Matty Davis or Music Workshop with Denise Mei Yan Hofmann Session Two | 2:30 – 4:00pm Movement Workshop with Matty Davis or Music Workshop with Denise Mei Yan Hofmann Open to children ages 7 – 12. All children must be accompanied by at least one adult. Families will collaborate to create and perform together while learning. Dress comfortably and ready to move. Registration is required as space is limited. ABOUT THE ARTISTS Matty Davis is a co-artistic director and performer within BOOMERANG. He is also a performance based visual artist whose work pits the body against often radical undertakings and journeys that explore the limits and empathic possibilities of embodiment, memory, and love, as well as the origin of materials and mark making. Davis has performed at the Watermill Center, Judson Church, the United Nations, in Performa 13 (with Guido van der Werve and Pedro Gómez Egaña) and Performa 15 (with Francesco Vezzoli and David Hallberg), and staged guerrilla-style performances in Death Valley, upon the rural ball fields of Oklahoma, and atop deserted tractor trailers in the Great Smoky Mountains. www.mattywdavis.com Denise Mei Yan Hofmann was born in Hong Kong. Half-Swiss, half-Chinese, Denise was raised in Seoul, Bangkok, Istanbul and Hong Kong. Denise’s music has been played at the National Opera Center, DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Spectrum and Mannes College in New York City; Asia Society Hong Kong Center and City Hall Theatre in Hong Kong; Denise arranged the jazz standard Georgia on my Mind for the Johnny Rodgers Band, which was performed by the Moscow Symphony string section. Denise has received fellowships from Yaddo Colony, Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts and Bright Sheng’s Intimacy of Creativity Program 2017.
