Cracked Actor returns after a long hiatus to pay tribute to the The Velvet Underground and their principal songwriter Lou Reed. Playing selections from much of V.U.'s discography, as well as Lou's earlier solo output, we are very excited to have guitarist G.E. Smith performing with us. Take a walk on the wild side as we transform the Talkhouse into the psychedelic Exploding Plastic Inevitable, and come dressed as your favorite Warhol Superstar, Chelsea Girl, or Factory Regular. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the debut album The Velvet Underground & Nico from one of the most influential bands in rock, underground, experimental, and alternative music. The Velvets integration of rock and the avant-garde achieved little commercial success during their existence, but their provocative subject matter, musical experimentation, and often nihilistic attitudes explored in their work would prove influential in the development of punk rock and new wave music.
