This week our WPPB TBT celebrates the eagerly anticipated Southampton Lions Club Charitable Trust Oldies Spectacular.
The 14th annual concert event on Saturday; August 13, 2016 starts at 7pm in the Southampton High School auditorium featuring: Kathy Young ("A Thousand Stars" recorded 1960 when she was 15); Chris Montez (his 1962 hit "Let's Dance" reached the top of the charts when he was just 19); Jimmy Gallagher and The Passions ("Just To Be With You" / 1959); Jay Siegel's Tokens ("The Lion Sleeps Tonight" / 1961) AND Charlie Thomas's Drifters (“This Magic Moment” / 1960, "Under The Boardwalk" etc., etc., etc.!).
The six decades old music being celebrated at this special community fundraiser never gets tired; especially when accomplished professionals perform live in front of a packed house of enthusiastic, “forever young at heart” fans. Call it doo wop, rock & roll, rhythm & blues; whatever term rendered, the result for fourteen years running has been a nostalgic summer night to remember.
So come take advantage of a magic moment from the past and enjoy a present perfect evening in the mighty jungle of live music.
