Interested in taking a voyage to veggie-land? While easy for some, it can be a difficult task for many. The meat-free way of life is challenging and simply going “fake meat” to get the protein you think you need is not the best solution. Not to mention the learning curve that comes with preparing delish vegetarian cuisine that boasts true health support (versus the ever-so-popular whatchamacallit covered with cheese). Enter vegetarian diva Brenda Davis, RD, internationally acclaimed speaker and author who has devoted her life’s work to educating peeps on how to become a healthy veggie. We will talk optimal vegetarian diet from nutrition “lost” to nutrition gained, explore what it means to be a healthy vegetarian and get some tips for transition. Then the gals from Amber Waves Farm in Amagansett, NY will inspire us with what’s in their dirt this season and talk about the many things they do to connect eaters to their food including Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), the Wheat Project, Farm to Food Pantry, education programs at their farm and of course where we can find them once the farmer’s market season kicks in!
