This week our WPPB TBT celebrates the 85th birthday of baseball's greatest living player - WILLIE MAYS! Born on May 6, 1931 in Westfield, Alabama of athletic parents - Willie Howard Mays, Sr. aka "Cat" a semi-pro ballplayer and Annie Satterwhite, a champion scholastic sprinter - Willie Jr. would grow up to become one of the most gifted athletes of his generation.

This week our WPPB TBT celebrates British rock musician, singer, songwriter, producer, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Peter Frampton. Born in England on April 22, 1950, Frampton proved a precocious musical talent teaching himself to play the guitar at age 7; and within a few years mastering complex jazz, blues, and rock riffs. By age 16 P.F. was the lead guitarist and singer for a popular U.K. group The Herd. The teen magazine RAVE named Frampton "The Face of 1968." In early '69, still only 18, he and Steve Marriott formed Humble Pie.

This week our WPPB TBT celebrates the 77th birthday of award winning film director, producer, screenwriter, and wine entrepreneur Francis Ford Coppola. Born on April 7, 1939 in Detroit, by age two Coppola, his older brother August, and their first generation Italian-American parents had moved to Queens, New York. {Where in 1946 his sister Talia Rose was born.} As a child Francis contracted polio leaving him bedridden yet positioned to produce imaginative puppetry and cultivate his creative instincts during recuperation.
